About the Author

James M. Holder Sr.

I find it funny when I read the “About” page for many authors. Usually they’re written by the author themselves, almost always in the third person, and they typically chronicle how wonderfully qualified they are to be a author. It usually reads like this:
Greg Gregenblat, PHD; MSG; PPG, was born in 1954 in war torn Southern Blattensburg where his mother and father scrapped together enough Blattenfranks to put him on a train across the ocean to America. In America, as an orphan, he worked long hours as a envelope licker saving every penny he earned to buy a pair of shoes so that he could walk to the university in the snow to study astrophysics and ball room dancing. Today Greg is a successful medical doctor, a champion dog sled racer and a noted activist with 38+ years experience in solving very, very difficult matters. His wife (a noted philanthropist) and son Greg Jr. are wonderful inspirations to all who meet them. Greg has authored 62 books and his articles have been published in 12,324 newspapers and magazines. Several very famous people (listed below) have had the privilege of reading his writings; join them by signing up for his hourly email newsletter…
Me, well I’m not that accomplished… I write because I love to write and would be humbled and appreciative if you were to join me in my journey to discover…

Faith:
Join me to discover what? Join me to discover God’s will for our lives… Whoa! Did he just say what I thought he said?! Yep I did and I don’t apologize for that. I am an unashamed Bible believing Christian and I am proud to say that my world view is shaped by Biblical principles as opposed to my Biblical view being shaped by worldly principles (an important distinction).

Background:
I am a proud non-intellectual who cheated his way through high school, was expelled from Bible College, and to this day in order for me to figure out which of my hands is my right hand, I have to pretend I’m throwing something. I’ve worked as a construction worker, swimming pool repair man, security guard, pilot, restaurant general manager, retail general manager, professional golfer, groundskeeper, construction manager, ministry leader and author (I wrote Saved from Mediocrity [click here to purchase]). I've lived in LeSueur Minnesota, Austin Minnesota, Cedarville Ohio, back to Austin Minnesota, Richfield Minnesota, Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Margate Florida, Naperville Illinois, Aurora Illinois, St. Charles Illinois, back to Naperville Illinois, Louisville Colorado, Pompano Beach Florida, back to Margate Florida, back to Ft. Lauderdale Florida, back to Pompano Beach Florida, Sunrise Florida and Deerfield Beach Florida. Since I can’t seem to stay put or hold down a job, I’m forced to do what I love and write… I guess I’ll do that until something else comes along someplace else.

Personal:
I was born and raised in Minnesota with four parents (Bill and Helen Holder and Vane and Sandy George), one brother (Rob), two half brothers (Paul and David) three step sisters (Vicki, Valerie and Vanessa) and two step brothers (Vane Jr. and Vincent).  I now live in a secure and undisclosed location somewhere in Florida with my wife, (Katherine) my son (James Jr.) and my daughter (Sophia). I must admit, because of God's abundant grace and mercy, I have had and do have a pretty good life.

Other:
My hobbies are golf, furniture making, and cooking. I like candy and if not for spell check you wouldn’t be able to read this sentence. Other than that… I’m a pretty boring guy.

Disclaimer:
A couple months ago on Facebook many people were changing there profile picture to an image of the celebrity that they thought they most resembled, I changed my profile picture to a picture of Redd Fox (I don't look much like Redd Fox so I thought it was funny).  One of my friends sent me a note (I'm sure with the intent to protect me) telling me that Redd Fox was not a very good man and that I should remove his image from my page.

Though I did appreciate his concern, I did not remove the picture because it is ludicrous to think that posting a funny picture of somebody indicates that I like, agree or sanction everything or anything that somebody does, has done or will do.

It is because of this type of thinking that I believe I need to write the following disclaimer:
The only publication that I agree fully with is the Bible.  By saying "only" I purposely exclude this website, my columns and my books from the publications that I fully agree with. If I write or say something that contradicts the Bible, then it is I who am wrong, not the Bible.  Should you feel it necessary to point out my wrongness, I have absolutely no problem with that as long as you show me Biblically what it is that is contradictory. Keep in mind that if you so choose to point out my stupidity, be ready for a possible debate knowing that I will try very hard to show the Biblical foundation of my thoughts.
Having said that, I accept and understand that I am not always right and promise that I will always concede a Biblically proven point... outside of Biblical proof of my foolishness though, I will stand firm... and foolish.
